Home of Chefs, is a catering company based in Durban. I wanted to incorporate the different cultures and lifestyle of the City into my design. The diamond shapes represent the sun rising from the ocean, it also speaks to the traditional motifs used in Zulu and Indian artifacts.
The logo is made of two overlapping chefs knifes, which creates a negative space in between. I used the negative space to create a silhouette of a wine glass.
I also made a black and white logo, for use on hard surface branding, like knives and plates. This also gives the company options to use at different times.
Pendoring Judges Video
Pendoring, is an award show for native language adverts. It shows the best work for each year. The judging panel is made-up of some of the biggest names in the creative industry. We had to create the audio-visual material for the award show. This was challenge for our team, as time was of the essence. The project helped me greatly improve my animation abilities and editing skills.
Animating the judge’s titles into the video, was my favourite part of the project. The font used for the AV material was specially designed for the show, which gave the videos a unique feel. The result was beautiful and made for a very memorable award show.
FNB Acquisitions AV
Collaboration is key when working in a team. When it comes to an audio-visual project, copy and design have to speak to each other. The project was a learning curve for me, as I had to conceptualise with a team, sit with the copywriter, all while ensuring that the design of the animation matched with what the rest of the team was doing. It taught me that taking initiative and keeping track of your team members progress is important.
In keeping with FNB’s CI, the animation had to be simple while clearly illustrating the message.
Vox Chamber Choir
Vox, a choir with a unique sound, were looking for a logo that would represent their sound. Vox’s music has an enchanting sound as they find their inspiration in nature and infuse those sounds into their music. They view their music as a spiritual journey and I used that as a base for my logo design.
The aim was to create a symbol that flows and looks like it belongs on a musical score sheet.
Maroela Media Hoodies
Maroela Media, wanted a winter clothing line that would appeal to the young Afrikaner market. I decided to use a well-known Afrikaans idiom as the inspiration for my design. The direct translation is “a monkey up your sleeve” – this idiom means that someone has a mischievous plan.
Donald Wrap, is a small vinyl wrapping company. That does vehicle wrapping, banners, office window decals, and other large format printing.
The symbol is a flat sheet wrapped into the letter D, to communicate that the company prides itself for its high standards of wrapping.
The client wanted a logo with striking colours. With this criterion in mind, I decided to use a gradient as part of their main colour.
